Turn Off Your Gas in the Summer
Posted on Jun 1st, 2020

The red gas valve is turned 90 degrees to the Off positionThe Landings’ gas bill during the summer can be over $100 per month for the building — for fueling only the fireplace pilot lights. It’s a waste of the money you pay to the Association to keep your pilot light burning.

You can turn off your pilot light in only one minute. Just open the access panel under the fireplace and turn the red valve on the gas line to the Off position (so it’s at a 90-degree angle to the gas line, as shown in the photo).

Turning off your pilot light will keep the extra heat out of your unit and stop unnecessary expense during the hot summer months.
