When Your Garage Gate Doesn't Work
Posted on Apr 1st, 2016

Slot for opening your garage gate openerYou just tried to open the garage gate, but nothing happened. What do you do now? Here are the steps you should follow.
  1. Open your garage gate opener by inserting a quarter into the slot at one end and twisting it until the top comes off. See the photo at left for the location of the slot.
  2. Replace the battery. The larger openers require a 9-volt battery. The smaller ones take an A23 12-volt battery. Double check to make sure the connections with the battery are correct and secure.
  3. If the garage gate still doesn’t open, check the switches inside the opener are all in their correct positions. (You’ll need to get the code for your parking level from a Board member or from the Property Manager.) A sharp pencil or fine-point pen are great for setting the switches. See the photo below for the location of the switches.
The Board won’t change the garage gate codes without letting you know beforehand.
