Empty Your Recycling Bags
Posted on Jan 23rd, 2018

To meet city requirements and to keep recycling costs down, remember to empty your bags full of collected recycling into the blue recycling dumpster, as shown in the photo at right. Do not place full bags into the dumpster, because full bags make the sorting process more difficult and increase the expense.
There are two exceptions to this rule:
- Long shredded paper should be placed in the blue recycling dumpster in clear plastic bags. (Cross-cut shredded paper can be put in a biodegradable bag to go in the green food waste bin, or it can be put in any kind of bag to go in the garbage.)
- Clean, dry plastic bags (such as grocery bags, dry cleaner bags or newspaper bags) should be collected into one bag and placed in the blue recycling dumpster. (All plastic bags that contained food or produce — such as bread bags or frozen food bags — should be placed in the garbage dumpster.)
