Confirm Garage Pedestrian Doors Close
Posted on Jan 1st, 2016

On the P-1 and P-2 garage levels, the doors to the elevator waiting areas sometimes do not close completely or the latch does not completely engage. Or they may slam shut with too much force and risk damaging the door jamb. The problem is caused by the poorly functioning door closers near the top the doors. They leak fluid (see the photo at right) and can't be adjusted anymore because they are worn out.
The Board has replaced the door closer on the door to the P-1 elevator waiting area and monitoring all other door closers in the building to determine which need to be replaced next. It is important that all doors securely lock after being used and don't damage their door jambs.
Meanwhile, please ensure your neighbor's security by making sure the garage doors to the elevator waiting areas close when you use them. We don't want thieves to enter the building.
If you see a door closer that is not functioning correctly or a door that does not close properly, contact a Board member right away.
